Does nostalgia affect opinions of old games? If so, how heavily?

I think when the game is good it really amplifies the good feelings you already had towards it. I know nostalgia is why Ocarina of Time will never be topped by any other game. For me it all has to do with where I was in life at the time. I don't feel that way about any other game but I do have strong nostalgia for some other games. I think only a few games ever get this special super nostalgia type treatment. Most of the time the nostalgia factor aint all that.

I have great memories of playing Smartball on the SNES, but fuck it's actually an awful game. Apple's answer is probably the truth for me too. Some games were just in the right place at the right time, and some of them are plain bad! (thankfully not many tho)

Smartball was good when you were dumb new gamer....

Now that you're smart gamer the game is dumb.... wtf does this mean?

It means my tolerance for crappy gameplay is not as low as when I was young.
