NES of the Month #13 – Kid Icarus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See that goofy smirk?? That’s gonna be YOU after you kill Medusa!!! THAT’S RIGHT!!! YOU PLAYED METROID, YOU GOT DISAPPOINTED…WELL GAMER HERE’S SOMETHING BETTER!!!! AND IT’S NOT ONLY ON THE NES BUT ALSO ON THE FAMICOM DISK SYSTEM!!!!!!!! This game is a CLASSIC and very action packed and fun. Challenging but rewarding and the best part is you don’t get lost for 500 hours!!!! Are you up to it???? Try and get a good ending, I dare ya, gamer. Game on!!!!

Refia Completed 85/100 Pretty good game, although the reverse difficulty is weird. It’s probably super hard if you don’t know any of the tricks and things this game has going on. Eggplant Wizards are really annoying to deal with. Great OST for an early release. Much better than Metroid, although maybe that’s not saying much, but the fortresses at least let you have a map. You become kinda stupidly OP at the end, although the game only giving you one life bar on a continue makes it a game that gets easier the better you are at it. Making one dumb mistake and falling can make you lose almost everything, so the feathers are super important, along with not letting your items get stolen. Fun game with a very interesting scoring/ending system, I got punished for missing some arrow upgrades and only got second worst ending. Still, very fun game to play today, and the 3D Classics version IMO is the definitive one as it has the good aspects of the FDS version while adding neat backgrounds and stuff. It’s not bad at all if you don’t get frustrated by the first world.
